Ponsel Qwerty diperkirakan akan semakin mendominasi penjualan ponsel di Indonesia pada tahun 2009. Pertumbuhan ponsel Qwerty diperkirakan tumbuh sekira 35 persen, sehingga tak heran jika produsen-produsen ponsel baik lokal maupun dunia akan tetap memproduksi ponsel Qwerty.

Hal itu terungkap dalam acara diskusi bertajuk "Tren Teknologi dan Prospek Bisnis Seluler 2010 di Mall Artha Gading, Jakarta, Kamis (26/11/2009). Dalam diskusi yang merupakan rangkaian acara 'Cellular Fair' Harian Seputar Indonesia tersebut hadir sejumlah perwakilan produsen ponsel seperti, Nokia, Venera, Taxco, dan HT Mobile.

Cellular Fair akan berlangsung di Mall Artha Gading pada 26 November 2009 hingga 29 November.

Menurut Bussines Development Manager HT Mobile, Anton Angjaya lifecycle ponsel-ponsel Qwerty masih panjang dan tetap akan terus berkembang. "Tentunya dengan berbagai kombinasi-kombinasi seperti touchscreen atau sliding,? kata Anton.

Desain Qwerty dapat memberikan kemudahan dan kecepatan bagi pengguna, terutama untuk mendukung fasilitas aplikasi situs jejaring. Product development Senior Manager PT Dinamika Agung, Toni Bati mengatakan, pertumbuhan ponsel Qwerty diprediksi naik 35-40 persen. "Qwerty akan melesat di tahun 2010," katanya.

Sejumlah produsen ponsel memang telah menyiapkan senjata ponsel Qwerty untuk tahun 2010 mendatang. Taxco sendiri sebagai pemain ponsel lokal mengungkapkan akan mengeluarkan sembilan ponsel Qwerty di tahun mendatang.
"Saat ini kami baru memiliki dua ponsel Qwerty, seri VX 1 dan VX2, tahun depan kami telah menyiapkan sembilan ponsel Qwerty dan tiga di antaranya saat ini telah siap, VX 3, VX4, dan VX5," ujar Adhi, Manager Produk PT Mikro Teknologi Indonesia (Taxco).

Pasar Qwerty di Indonesia sendiri memang masih terbuka cukup lebar. Data menunjukan pasar Qwerty di Indonesia baru 20 persen sedangkan sisanya dikuasai oleh ponsel berdesain candy bar dan desain lainnya.  Penjualan Qwerty diperkirakan baru mencapai 1,7 juta.

Di sisi harga, Hendru melihat ponsel dengan harga di bawah satu juta rupiah masih diminati sekira 40 persen konsumen di Indonesia.

Selain tren ponsel berbentuk Qwerty bar, tren ponsel 2010 mendatang akan diramaikan dengan kehadiran ponsel-ponsel berbasis sistem operasi besutan Google, Android. "Android akan menjadi tren baru di tahun mendatang," tegas Anton.

Berbeda dengan Anton, Toni Bati mengatakan pasar di Indonesia masih perlu mendapatkan edukasi untuk memasarkan. Namun, Toni sendiri mengatakan Venera tetap akan mengarah ke ponsel Android di masa mendatang. "Saat ini kami lebih fokus dulu untuk menambah layanan fitur-fitur dan konten kepada masyarakat," ujar Toni.

Setali tiga uang dengan Venera, Taxco juga masih belum berencana meluncurkan handset berbasi Android dalam setahun ke depan. "Kami masih menggali dan mempelajari sistem operasi tersebut," ujar Managing Director Taxco, Michael Lesmana.

Kondisi pasar ponsel di tahun 2010 mendatang diperkirakan juga akan semakin membaik setelah pada kuartal pertama 2009 sempat mengalami kelesuan akibat krisis global yang melanda dunia. Usai kuartal pertama tahun 2009, penjualan ponsel pun mengalami peningkatan. Laporan firma riset iSuppli Corp mengungkapkan, penjualan ponsel global pada kuartal kedua (April-Juni) 2009 meningkat 4,7 persen dibandingkan kuartal pertama (Januari-Maret) 2009.

Pada kuartal kedua 2009, penjualan ponsel global sudah mengalami rebound (memantul naik). iSuppli mengungkapkan, pada kuartal kedua 2009, penjualan ponsel global naik menjadi 265,0 juta unit,dari 253,0 juta unit pada kuartal pertama 2009.

Pertumbuhan tersebut kian mendorong produsen untuk saling berlomba-lomba menghadirkan inovasi terbaru pada produk-produk keluarannya. Tak terkecuali dengan produsen ponsel yang memasarkan produknya di Indonesia. Persaingan di pasar ponsel, menurut Toni Bati khususnya ponsel-ponsel lokal nantinya akan ditentukan oleh kemampuan produsen menghadirkan sejumlah faktor seperti kualitas layanan, strategi marketing dan distribusi.

Menurut HT Mobile, dari hasil diskusi mereka dengan sejumlah mitra, termasuk vendor perangkat, di tahun 2010, kemungkinan banderol harga ponsel berkemampuan 3G bisa ditekan di bawah 1 juta rupiah.

Jadi, pada kuartal pertama nanti, diperkirakan ponsel-ponsel merk lokal akan mulai meleverage fitur-fiturnya, tetapi dengan harga yang tetap relatif terjangkau.

“Beberapa tahun terakhir, kami melakukan penetrasi dan telah membangun brand di pasar. Hasilnya, respon pasar cukup baik,” kata Nur Amin, General Manager HT Mobile, di Jakarta, 4 Desember 2009. “Karena itu, kami ingin membenahi kualitas ponsel di tahun depan, ingin melenyapkan mitos kalau hape lokal kualitasnya selalu jelek dan tak bisa diandalkan,” ucapnya.

Tak menutup kemungkinan, menurut Nur Amin, di tahun 2010, akan berjejer ponsel merk lokal yang mengadopsi sistem operasi Android. “Selain memiliki arsitektur terbuka (open architecture), OS ini lebih terjangkau ketimbang Windows Mobile (WinMo). Walaupun, beberapa tetap ada yang menggunakan WinMo,” ucapnya.

Selain itu, ponsel Qwerty berkemampuan 3G akan semakin meramaikan pasar dengan harga di bawah 1 juta rupiah.
